Programme description
Kuhmo Visitor Centre Petola is home to Finland’s large carnivores. Here you can obtain information on the brown bear, the wolf, the lynx and the wolverine. The Predators on The Prowl -exhibition acquaints the visitors with the size and looks, as well as the sounds, senses and habits of the large predators. In the auditorium you can see films telling about these animals and the wildlife in the region. The Info-Section provides information on the relationship between man and large carnivores.
There is also plenty of information on wild forest reindeer, the cousin of the domesticated reindeer. Living in the same areas with the large carnivores is not always peaceful for the wild forest reindeer.
