Finlands four large carnivores - brown bear, wolf, lynx and wolverine - are presented in the Petola Visitor Centre in Kuhmo. Do you know how long is a bears winter sleep or how does the wolf pack live? What does the lynx coat feel like or how small wolverine actually is? These and many other facts about carnivores are found out in Petolas exhibitions.
Kuhmo Visitor Centre Petola is home to Finland’s large carnivores. Here you can obtain information on the brown bear, the wolf, the lynx and the wolverine. The Predators on The Prowl -exhibition acquaints the visitors with the size and looks, as well as the sounds, senses and habits of the large predators. In the auditorium you can see films telling about these animals and the wildlife in the region. The Info-Section provides information on the relationship between man and large carnivores.
There is also plenty of information on wild forest reindeer, the cousin of the domesticated reindeer. Living in the same areas with the large carnivores is not always peaceful for the wild forest reindeer.
