Experience the unforgettable bear night in Martinselkonen. You will spend a night in a wooden hide accompanied with an expert guide and follow the life of wild brown bears living in these forests. Usually in one night you can see and photograph several bears. If you are lucky you can also see the playful bear cubs.
Excursion will start at 16, we will leave from the Martinselkonen Wilds Centre (Pirttivaarantie 131, Suomussalmi) by company cars. After a short drive we will walk 1,5 km in a forest trail to the wooden hide that seats for 12 or 9 persons. We will spend the night at the hide watching and photographing bears. In the morning after 7 return to the Centre same way as coming.
Included in this programme
One night stay at the wooden hide. Hide has places for sitting and photography holes. There is also bunk beds for sleeping and sleeping bags. Hide also has an eco toilet.
Guiding in English. Evening snack (please inform special diets in advance). Car transfer from Martinselkonen Centre to the end of the road and back.
You will need
You just need suitable clothing for the weather and shoes for forest walking. If its been raining, best shoes are water proof shoes or rubber boots.
Please note that Finnish summer nights can be chilly, so please bring also warm clothing that you can add when the night gets cooler.
You can also use mosquito repellent. If you have some allergy or illness, please bring the medication for it.
You can also bring indoor slippers/shoes and some snack of your own. Please note that is not allowed to smoke or drink alcohol at the hide.
Good to know
There is a 1,5km walk through a forest trail to the wooden hide. The excursion is not suitable for people who need assistance when walking.
Please arrive to the Centre latest at 15:30. If you are taking the extra lunch, please arrive to the Centre before 15:00.
Please note that is not allowed to smoke or drink alcohol at the hide.
The Bear Excursions is done daily from beginning of May to the mid August.
