Mari Mäntylä is one of the most appreciated classical guitarist in Finland. Her main instrument is decacorde, the 10-string classical guitar. Mäntylä has given concerts both as a soloist and as a chamber musician throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The solo recital repertoire of Mari Mäntylä covers music from renaissance to contemporary time. The compositions of Mari Mäntylä’s concert programme share a common spirit of old music characterised by unostentatious style, intimacy, and sense of timelessness. Her repertoire allows to highlight the strengths of the 10-stringed decacorde as a meditative and impressively sonorous type of guitar. The composers include such names as Pekka Jalkanen, René Eespere, Johann Kaspar Mertz, Sylvius Leopold Weiss, and Johann Hieronymus Kapsberger.
