In Kalevalaic tradition, the bog is seen as a healing, wise, and ancient place that takes a person’s burden and restores their strength. Welcome to discover the ancient story of the Kuumulainen healing peat bog.

Programme description

This experience offers a unique journey to the roots of Finnish culture and the healing power of nature. The ancient story experience of Kuumulainen healing peat takes you to the quiet bogs of Kainuu, where time slows down and both body and mind are allowed to settle into calm. The experience weaves together Kalevalaic tradition, the restorative energy of nature, and a deep sense of presence in a way that lingers in both memory and body for a long time.

The experience begins gently at the parking area, where a guide introduces participants to the history of healing peat, Kalevalaic tradition, and the significance of bogs in Finnish culture. Dressed in Kalevala-inspired attire, the group walks along a boardwalk toward the bog, accompanied by storytelling, the sounds of a pike-bone instrument, and the profound silence of the marsh. Upon arrival, everyone is invited to pause at the edge of the bog and encounter the healing peat with their own hands, at their own pace.

“When you rise, leave your heavy burdens on the bog and carry peace with you. The bog remembers. The bog heals.”
