Programme description

This tour to Wild Taiga combines the highlights of Finnish winter. Arctic Lakeland region is known for it´s jouyful activities, rich culture and gastronomy with friendly hospitality. The deepest roots of Finnish culture go back to the national epic of Kalevala.
Day 1
Arrival at Oulu / Kajaani airport. The transfer by Pohjolan Matka coach to Kuhmo and Hotel Kalevala.
Hotel Kalevala is a unique, small, private lakeside hotel only 3 km from Kuhmo centre. Surrounded by ancient forests and crystal clear lakes, Hotel Kalevala is nestled in a true nature wonderland. Welcome drink, dinner and overnight at Kalevala Hotel. Old times dinner is arranged either in Hotel Kalevala’s cabinet or in Northern house near the hotel. Together 6-7 courses.
Day 2
Breakfast. Cross country skiing at the hotel or snowshoe tour.
Kuhmo is a small town in north east Finland. Surrounded by ancient forests and crystal clear lakes, this is a winter wonderland nestled in some of the deepest snow in Finland. After the lunch excursion to Lentiira Holiday Village for sauna and Ice swimming. Dinner at restaurant Pirtti in Lentiira.
Day 3
Snowmobiling safari, lunch, Husky tour and dinner.
Day 4
Juminkeko Folkore and stories 1 h
Juminkeko is one of the biggest national centres dedicated to the Kalevala.
Leaving towards Paltamo. Stop at Haapala B&B for coffee or lunch or Brewery tour.
Arriving at the hotel Arctic Giant Birdhouse.
The Arctic Giant is a mystical world of forest spirits and other magical creatures, located on the high Kivesvaara hill in Paltamo.
Welcome drink and dinner at restaurant Makuhelmi
Night at Northern Lights (Aurora Camp)
Feel the magic of the polar sky and the northern lights. Guided tour.
Overnight at Arctic Giant Birdhouse Hotel
Day 5
After breakfast check out and transfer to Oulu / Kajaani Airport.
