Welcome to Kuhmo, a small town in north east Finland. Surrounded by ancient forests and crystal clear lakes, this is a winter wonderland nestled in some of the deepest snow in Finland. With nothing but unspoilt nature as far as the eye can see, Kuhmo is perfect for wilderness and activity adventures. Hotel Kalevala provides a unique experience from beginning to end for any holiday. As soon as you arrive you are invited into a mythical world and the adventures of the Wild Taiga.

This week is for fun, action and activities such as husky safari, crosscountry skiing, snowshoeing and wildlife watching. For your free time you may book optional activities such as rapid swimming, fat bike tour, ice-fishing etc.
Do also try some kick-sledding, tobogganing, making snow angels, walking on the snow, visiting Kuhmo village in our special museums.

Detailed programme

Daily:
Breakfast, dinner, evening saunas with indoor and outdoor jacuzzis

Day 1
Arrival to Kajaani airport, transfer to Hotel Kalevala.
Accommodation and dinner.

Day 2
Cross-country ski school.
Easy and beginner-friendly cross-country skiing lesson.

Day 3
Husky Safary.
After a brief introduction to dog sledding and safety instructions, you’ll set off on a safari through the snowy landscape.

Day 4
Wildlife Tracking Presentation – A Glimpse into the Wild.

Leisure snowshoe walk through taiga forests and on frozen lake.

Day 5
Snowmobile safari
2 persons/snowmobile. You can switch drivers on the way or book your own snowmobiles (+ 40 €/person)

Day 6
Optional activities possibilities dog sled rides, snowmobile trips, rapid floating, ski school, northern lights tours, ice fishing, or enjoying the snow-covered nature with rented snowshoes or cross-country skis.

Day 7
Breakfast, transfer to Kajaani airport

Thermal overall (suit, hat, gloves, boots, socks) 75 €/week or 25 €/day
