Programme description

During this stay we will focus on photographing predators such as wolverine and with luck the wolf but also eagles, red foxes, dippers, crested tits, as well as wild forest reindeer of which there are only about 850 individuals in Kainuu and 2,500 over all Finland. Without forgetting if the weather allows us, the photography of the northern lights. During the free time possibility of ice-fishing and enjoy snowshoeing, bird photographing .

Detailed programme

Day 1

Arrival in Kajaani airport, transfer to Lentiira, accommodation and meals. Info about the program.

Day 2

After breakfast, a little snowshoeing trip about 1.5 hours to discover snowcapped landscapes, rivers and the dipper.
Meal then we will leave for the predatory hide for the photography of rare wolverine. We will stay about 4-5 hours in the hide equipped with dry toilet and sleeping bag and a small heater. For access to snowshoe walking, tobogganing for equipment. return to the lodge and meal.

Day 3

Wake up before the sunrise for a new photo shoot of the predators in the predator hide for the wolverine and maybe the wolf will appear. Breakfast at the hide .return after around 5h-6h of hiding to accommodation and hot meal. In the afternoon, we will drive to Kuhmo for photos of landscapes. In the evening, after the meal, following the weather we will focus on the northern lights.

Day 4

After breakfast, you can enjoy the bird feeder to photograph taiga birds. We will take advantage of the opportunities that nature will offer us that day. Meals. In the evening, we will leave for predatory hide for this time wolverine and eagle. We will sleep in the heated hide (winter sleeping bag included) and spend the next day on the lookout for wolverines and eagles and wolves.

Day 5

Day in hide. When nightfall down back to accommodation, meals and sauna. If the weather permits excursion for the aurora borealis.

Day 6

After breakfast, we will go in search of the Finnish caribou, the wild reindeer of the forests. This typical animal of the forests of Finland, traveling by vehicle as well as snowshoes. Day 7

After breakfast, transfer to Kajaani Airport

Good to know

Accommodation in twin or double room with shower and toilet. In hide, small heater and winter sleeping bag included.

Please notify: Program can be changed according to the season and the weather conditions as well as because of animal’s movements. Animals seen are totally wild and free.
Smoking and the use of alcohol are forbidden in the hides. Speaking in the hide is restricted. We have to be quiet and minimize our movements in hide also well on outside for others animals too. We reserve the right to change the order and places of the program.
